Executive summary
A large beverage customer looking to improve IoT data collection from their fleet of connected fridges turned to AoFrio for help. Adding AoFrio Track SDK into a custom application deployed to their field sales staff led to a 371% increase in data acquired from refrigerators. This increased data flow using the existing mobile fleet and Bluetooth system cost virtually nothing, but drove new fleet insights, productivity and efficiency, leading to better investment and service decisions for their customers.

Challenge
A large beverage manufacturer and distributor customer have expanded its range of connected fridges by incorporating AoFrio SCS controllers into its new build fridges. The fridges were recording valuable data on equipment and sales performance, but collecting the information frequently and reliably using only the Track app was proving to be a challenge.
The solution
AoFrio learned that the client had successfully implemented a custom mobile ordering app for their sales team. Users recognized that this application was essential to their work, as it allowed them to order products for their customers. At this point, it became clear that using one app to order product and another to collect field data was not optimal, so we suggested simplifying things by embedding AoFrio Track SDK within the client app.
The SDK was tailored to the exact needs of the bottler, and the code and documentation was delivered to their IT team, who incorporated it into the mobile app. Implementation time was short and with minimal financial investment, while ensuring fresher data.

Results and future plans
One of the downsides of using location-enabled apps is that the phone’s operating system shows continuous notifications even when the app is running in the background, which can be frustrating and confusing for the user. If the app is not used regularly, the operating system can change the permission settings, adding another layer of complexity.
Using the SDK in an application that is frequently used in the foreground while the seller enters the orders, easily solves these problems.
